Compiled by Prue Wilson, adviser: visual arts (primary) and gifted & talented students, Victoria University of Wellington College of Education Te Whanau o Ako Pai ki Te Whare Wananga o te Upoko o te Ika a Maui.

"Exceptional Children differ from other children in a number of ways and from each other". Lark-Horovitz, Lewis, & Luca (1967, p. 121).

There is little agreement in claims of the characteristics of gifted/talented children in the visual arts (Clark & Zimmerman, 1992, p.1X).

This material aims to provide supporting information to help with the identification of children who are gifted/talented in the visual arts, and to suggest some ways that these children can be nurtured in the classroom.
