Iconic Drama
These year 9 - 10 drama resources are offered by the writer Trevor Sharp as exemplars of units that engage with the "front end" of The New Zealand Curriculum (2007). They focus on the values and key competencies expressed in the curriculum, as well as the achievement objectives.
The four units are based around icons (or images) provided by Te Papa. The icons are used to inspire rich teaching and learning possibilities. Each unit links its icon to a 'big question' - a theme or issue to be explored through the drama unit. The question has the advantage of suggesting that there is something to be revealed through the students' participation in the drama process - something to be discovered.
Teachers are encouraged to use or modify this resource in any way they find helpful for their programmes and their students.
